tenderheart studio was born from a desire to connect with the natural world and share that with others.
Originally established in 2015, Tenderheart Studio has seen various iterations, but at the core has always been finding reverence for the natural world and finding magic in the mundane. We are not separate from nature, we are nature, and every offering is in service of that idea.
The current iteration of Tenderheart Studio is a shop that contains objects that celebrate and honor the land and our relation to it. My hope is that you come away with a deeper understanding of what it is to be a human in the wider ecosystem.
I am now tattooing at The Cauldron in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
About the Maker
My name is Josie (they/them) and I am a first year tattooer, illustrator, herbalist, naturalist, student of the earth. My work encourages reciprocity with the land rather than extraction and dominance. Wandering through woods, splashing in rivers, growing a garden, and making plant medicine all inform my process of making, the final artwork serving as evidence of those experiences.
Stylistically lying somewhere between scientific illustration and folk art, I seek to bridge the gap between the magic and mundane, between humans and our earthly cohabitants.
A keystone project, the illustrated Materia Medica Oracle Deck is available in the shop and in hundreds of shops across the world.
